Interim Lafourche DA leads in donations

Courier, The (Houma, LA)

Feb. 28--The interim Lafourche Parish district attorney has surpassed her opponent in campaign contributions, records show.

Kristine Russell and Thibodaux City Court prosecutor Brad Naquin filed campaign finance reports Feb. 14 and Feb. 21 with the Louisiana Board of Ethics.

They are running for district attorney in a special March 24 election. Former District Attorney Cam Morvant II stepped down Nov. 3, citing health concerns.

Combined, Naquin's reports cover Oct. 5 to Feb. 12, and Russell's reports cover Nov. 3 to Feb. 12.

Russell, an independent from Thibodaux, has received $220,588.38 in donations from people and businesses, including $14,163.38 in in-kind contributions.
