A Hudson man was charged with insurance fraud after his pickup truck was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash, police said.
Hudson police arrested Andrew Collins, 34, on Monday night after a joint investigation with the National Insurance Crime Bureau and an insurance company. In addition to insurance fraud, Collins was charged with falsifying physical evidence and conduct after an accident.
A hit-and-run crash was reported on Ferry Road on June 1, when a resident told investigators his parked Ford F-250 had been heavily damaged overnight. A witness told officers they saw a pickup truck speed away.
Investigators recovered vehicle debris at the scene and linked the hit-and-run to Collins’s vehicle after further investigation, police said.
“Detectives learned that Collins had filed a claim reporting his vehicle as a total loss. The investigation determined that the damage to Collins’s vehicle was consistent with being in motion at the time of the crash, contradicting his statements to the insurer,” police said in a press release.
After his arrest on a warrant, Collins was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 11 in Nashua district court.
Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 603-886-6011.
