House Passes Disaster Tax Relief and Airport and Airway Extension Act

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 -- Rep. Scott Taylor, R-Va., issued the following news release:

Today, the House of Representatives passed the Disaster Tax Relief and Airport and Airway Extension Act of 2017, introduced by Representatives Kevin Brady (TX-08) and Bill Shuster (PA-09), on September 25, 2017. The bill includes H.R. 1422, the Private Flood Insurance Market Development Act, which was ordered reported by the Financial Services Committee on June 21, 2017. This legislation reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for six months, provides tax benefits for victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, reauthorizes certain expiring health programs, and includes provisions to increase the availability of private flood insurance for individuals in flood zones.

"As I have stated before, the recovery period for Hurricane victims in the gulf and the southeast United States will not be measured in weeks or months, but years," said Congressman Scott Taylor. "These tax benefits will give families who are struggling in the wake of this disaster a helping hand to get back on their feet."
