WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven today participated in a health care reform meeting along with Congressman Kevin Cramer, Governor Doug Burgum, North Dakota health care officials and Congressman Michael Burgess (R-Texas). The roundtable provided an opportunity to bring together health care professionals, advocates and other stakeholders in order to receive their input on how best to ensure a smooth transition away from Obamacare.
Burgess is the chairman of the Health Subcommittee of the House's Energy and Commerce Committee, which is one of two committees with primary jurisdiction in developing health care reform legislation in the House.
"Today we had an opportunity to hear from some of North Dakota's leading health care professionals and advocates as Congress works in an orderly and thoughtful way to concurrently repeal and replace Obamacare," Hoeven said. "The feedback we heard from North Dakotans will play an important role in accomplishing the goal of making affordable, high quality health care accessible to all Americans in a way that puts patients and their health care providers back in charge, while providing more choice and reducing health care costs."
