Gardere Continues Expansion with the Addition of Two New Partners

Real Estate Weekly News

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Real Estate Weekly News -- Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, an Am Law 200 firm, announces the addition of two highly regarded attorneys to its partner ranks. W. Brian Memory joins as a partner in the firm's banking and finance practice group, while Jason S. Luter joins as a partner in the tax practice group. Both hires were made to support significant client growth in these two areas. Banking and Finance Prior to joining Gardere's banking and finance practice, Memory served as assistant general counsel and senior vice president at PlainsCapital Bank. During his tenure, he managed and conducted the organization's legal affairs, advised C-level executives on corporate regulatory matters and managed the bank's real estate portfolio. Memory was part of the team that helped manage the merger of PlainsCapital Corporation and Hilltop Holdings Inc.

"Brian's experience as in-house counsel with a major Texas bank will bring excellent insight for our clients," said Steven S. Camp, head of Gardere's banking and finance practice. "Our practice group is known for the ability to work with bankers to accomplish their needs. We are pleased to welcome him to the team."

Gardere's banking and finance practice group assists public and private entities looking for business guidance with secured and unsecured financings, involving real estate, mineral interests, inventory, accounts receivable, factoring, intangible properties and virtually every other type of asset. Tax As the newest partner in Gardere's tax practice, Luter focuses on a wide range of matters including employee benefits, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and executive compensation matters such as tax qualification and implications. He also specializes in fiduciary governance and responsibility, the Internal Revenue Code, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and other federal and state laws affecting compensation, retirement and health benefit plans.

"We're glad to add Jason and his expertise to our group," said James Howard, head of the firm's tax practice group. "His experience in benefits and related tax matters will extend our ability to serve our clients on many issues."

Corporations and individuals both foreign and domestic rely on Gardere's tax practice group to help with complex state, federal and international tax issues and disputes in a practical, cost-effective way.
