The Nashville branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has tapped Emily Mitchell as its assistant vice president and regional executive.
According to a release, Mitchell serves as director of the Atlanta Fed's Regional Economic Information Network (REIN).
Mitchell will replace Laurel Graefe, who is departing the Atlanta Fed on June 30 after 20 years with the company.
In the role, Mitchell will work with the bank's other regional executives to collect economic data for the Atlanta Fed office, with a focus on activities in the Middle and East Tennessee regions.
Mitchell has served as REIN director in Nashville since 2018. She joined the Atlanta Fed in 2011 as a manager in the community and economic development department, overseeing its administration and operations.
Prior to joining the Fed, Mitchell worked as a senior program director for Maryland-based Enterprise Community Partners.
Mitchell earned a bachelor's degree in business and communications from the University of Alabama. She also holds master's degrees in urban and regional planning from Virginia Tech University and in international policy from American University.
The Atlanta Fed serves the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which encompasses Alabama, Florida and Georgia, and sections of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
As part of the nation's central banking system, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta participates in setting national monetary policy, supervises numerous commercial banks and provides financial services to depository institutions and the U.S. government.
