Farm Credit Hosts Tastes From Farm Credit for House and Senate Representatives in Washington, D.C.

MidAtlantic Farm Credit partnered with AgChoice Farm Credit, Colonial Farm Credit, and Farm Credit of the Virginias to host the annual Tastes from Farm Credit event, held in Washington, D.C. The associations catered a lunch for House representatives on Tuesday, June 10 and Senate representatives on Wednesday, June 11.

The associations worked with caterers Gourmet Central, located in Romney, West Virginia, and Fish Hawk Acres, located in Rock Cave, West Virginia, to design a custom menu for the event. The menu included a cheese spread with cheese provided by Palmyra Cheese Farm in Hagerstown, Maryland and crackers provided by Wysong Farm in Charles Town, West Virginia, potato salad made with potatoes provided by Sterman Masser Farms in Sacramento, Pennsylvania, a strawberry soup made from berries provided by B&G Orchards in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and apple cider provided by Kauffman's Fruit Farm and Market in Bird-In-Hand, Pennsylvania. Wine from Elk Run Winery in Mt. Airy, Maryland and Pizzadili Vineyard in Felton, Delaware was also available to taste. "This event gives us the chance to showcase Farm Credit customer's products and connect them directly with legislators who may not see how we impact agriculture on a daily basis," says Bob Frazee, CEO of MidAtlantic Farm Credit.

In addition to the luncheon, staff and board members from each association met with representatives from their regions over the course of both days. "It is important that we stay on top of the agriculture issues we are facing today," says Frazee. "We all need to work harder to keep our legislators informed about our industry."
