Even Republican Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost Thinks Steve Chabot is Wrong to Support ACA Elimination

Just days after Congressman Steve Chabot came out in favor of scrapping the entirety of the Affordable Care Act, Republican Attorney General Dave Yost put the full force of the State on the opposite side of the Department of Justice's lawsuit (and Chabot) - underscoring how isolated Chabot's extreme position on health care has left him.

It's no surprise that even fellow Republicans like Yost are speaking out against the approach Chabot backs - it's a plan that would eliminate protections for 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions, explode the cost of insurance premiums and out of pocket costs, and charge older Americans an "age tax" for their care.

And, as House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy has noted, it's an approach that risks further political disaster for Republicans after losing dozens of seats last November.

"It's no surprise that Steve Chabot is happily backing this disastrous plan to take away Ohioans' health care - after all, Chabot's spent decades in Washington deep in the pockets of the big drug and insurance companies that fund his campaigns," said DCCC spokesperson Mike Gwin. "However, it's telling that even Chabot's fellow Republicans are speaking out against Chabot's plan to take away protections for Ohioans with pre-existing conditions and raise health insurance premiums for the middle-class."
