During an interview with police, Bolear said he had driven to and from Love's and that he had not had anything to drink since leaving the store. He said he left Love's and drove west on Randolph before turning south toward Garriott, according to the affidavit. Bolear "had a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath, red watery eyes and slurred speech," according to the affidavit.
Bolear told police he had gone to Love's to purchase more beer, according to the affidavit. He said he was the driver on the trip to the store and on the way back from the store.
A check of Bolear's license showed he had a valid permit and had to have a valid driver over the age of 21 in the front seat, according to the affidavit. Bolear's passenger, Anderson Meloktakon, 47, only had an Oklahoma ID card and not a valid driver's license.
According to the affidavit, Bolear did not stop or make any effort to check on Reed or remain at the scene of the collision.
