Elmwood Park, River Grove police reports: Drivers crash into parked car, truck

Dec. 17--The following items were taken from area police department reports and releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Elmwood Park

Criminal damage

Christmas lights on Dec. 9 were cut from a home in the 1700 block of 75th Avenue.

Domestic battery

Jhonathan Velez, 22, of the 2200 block of North 76th Court, Elmwood Park, was charged Nov. 24 with domestic battery, police said.

DUI

Stepan Belocky, 23, of the 3900 block of Powell Avenue, Lyons, was charged Nov. 23 with aggravated DUI, DUI with a BAC of more than .08, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle after hitting a U-Haul truck parked in the 2300 block of North Harlem Avenue, police said. He was assigned a Nov. 27 hearing date in Maywood Court.

Juvenile

A juvenile on Dec. 6 received local ordinance citations for possession of a Dab Pen and two cartridges of THC oil while at Elmwood Park High School.

Theft

A package was stolen from a building in the 7800 block of North Avenue on Dec. 8.

Rent checks were stolen Dec. 4 from the drop-off area of an apartment building in the 2700 block of 76th Avenue.

A package was stolen Dec. 4 from the lobby of a building in the 7800 block of North Avenue.

Traffic

Victor Coraisaca, 66, of the 7600 block of West Fullerton Avenue, Elmwood Park, was charged Nov. 22 with driving without a license, driving without insurance, failing to notify damage to an unattended vehicle and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after rear-ending a car parked in the 7600 block of Fullerton Avenue, police said. He was assigned a Dec. 13 hearing date in Maywood Court.

River Grove

Burglary

Assorted drills and batteries were stolen Dec. 9 from an unlocked 2011 Ford van parked in the 8400 block of Arnold Street.

A drill lamp and battery were stolen Dec. 9 from a Ford van parked in the alley behind a building in the 8500 block of Grand Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the rear window and cutting through the security mesh wire.

Criminal damage

The driver and passenger side doors of a 2019 Honda HRV parked in the 2100 block of Paris Avenue were reported scratched on Dec. 5.
