Electronic Attachments Are Gaining Industry Traction As the Industry Moves Toward Interoperability

PR Newswire

CONCORD, Calif., Feb. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Jopari Solutions, Inc., a leader in providing connectivity between the medical delivery and payer communities in the Property & Casualty Industry, has taken their expertise and tools they industrialized to streamline the exchange of clinical documentation, and applied them to the much broader Group Health market. "Jopari today is processing over 4,000,0000 Healthcare Attachments a month across all lines of business including Commercial, Government, Workers' Compensation, and Auto Medical. Electronic Attachment processing allows a provider to send an attachment to the payer immediately versus manually faxing and/or mailing documents, which has proven to greatly improve payment cycles and speed of information being delivered to the claim decision-makers," states Steve Stevens, CEO of Jopari. "Our nationwide network of provider clients has been asking us to help them do the same type of exchange we have been doing for years in Property & Casualty for their commercial and government payers, since many of the documents exchanged are the same regardless of payer or coverage type, so we took those requests very seriously," he further adds.

Sherry Wilson, Jopari's EVP and Chief Compliance Officer explains, "While some providers and payers can support the proposed national standard transaction formats, such as HL7 and or ASCX12, many others don't yet have those capabilities.  Jopari has worked in conjunction with several practice management systems, clearinghouses, payer adjudication products, document and workflow management solutions, as well as State and Federal regulatory bodies to assemble an arsenal of tools to facilitate the exchange of data in both Standard and Non-Standard formats. Instead of having to invest in new technologies, Jopari is able, in most cases, to enable stakeholders to leverage their existing IT investment, resources and connectivity to be able to submit attachments electronically. Our stakeholders are reporting significant ROI when sending attachments electronically versus faxing and/or mailing. Some of their Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are showing an 80% reduction in appeals associated with missing documentation; trimming payment cycles from 35 plus days to 17 days; and a 55% decrease in administrative costs with payer status calls that are associated with electronic attachment acknowledgments."

"Jopari has had several key payers and provider organizations exchanging primarily claim documentation for quite some time with remarkable successes, and we now have a sizable inventory of both in implementation," comments Don St. Jacques, SVP of Business Development for Jopari. "Our next phase will be to include other types of documentation. Some of the priorities our clients have asked for include Pre-Authorizations and Referrals."

Stevens also adds, "We will have members of the Jopari team at HIMSS next week meeting with some of our key partners and clients to further expand the network of connectivity. We see a tremendous growth opportunity to facilitate the industry's initiatives to achieve interoperability, which results in improving patient care and outcomes."
