Seven metrics were used to set the rankings. For weather, the company determined that 60 degrees is the ideal trick-or-treating temperature, so cities with average high temperatures closest to it did better in the rankings. This
The data also rewards areas with a higher "percentage of kids under age 15 in each city and the number of single-family homes per square mile," as more homes mean a higher likelihood of residents passing out candy, according to the website. Other factors included home values and violent- and property-crime rates.
