CT SENATE GOP: HEALTHCARE COSTS TOO MUCH IN CT, BUT ASSOCIATION HEALTH PLANS NEVER PASS
States News Service
The following information was released by the Connecticut State Senate Republicans:
Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Tony Hwang, Sen. Jeff Gordon and Sen. Ryan Fazio issued the following statement regarding the vote Thursday by Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives in favor of extending Affordable Care Act tax credits:
"Gov. Lamont summed it up well in his statement:
'The cost of healthcare is too high.'
Gov. Lamont is absolutely right.
So, why won't he do something about it here, at the state level?
Year after year, Gov. Lamont won't show leadership in passing Association Health Plans which Democrats and Republicans and nonprofits and the private sector all support.
These plans allow small business and nonprofit employees who are not covered by their employer to pool their resources and risk to find coverage as a group.
It lowers costs. Pass it!
This is an affordable, common sense policy that would help insure thousands of workers across Connecticut.
But it never passes under one-party Connecticut Democrat rule.
