Congress Avoids Vote on Terrible, No-Good, Very Bad ‘Health Care’ Bill

WASHINGTON, March 24 -- The National Health Law Program issued the following news release:
Late today U.S. House leadership removed the American Heath Care Act (AHCA) from the floor before a vote could occur. The bill is an extreme measure that seeks to repeal the Affordable Care Act and drastically slash Medicaid funding.
National Health Law Program Executive Director Elizabeth G. Taylor said, "We are pleased this measure has not advanced out of the House. But all who care about the health care reforms gained under the Affordable Care Act must keep up the pressure to ensure extreme measures like this do not become law."
Managing Attorney of the DC Office Mara Youdelman added, "This measure was a threat to tens of millions of low-income individuals and underserved communities and would disproportionately harm women, with its provision to defund Planned Parenthood. Health care advocates must stay vigilant in our efforts to fight attacks on the ACA and on Medicaid. With extreme inequality in this country, the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid are integral to helping us turn things around."
