COMMUNITY BRIEFS – State senator to host second resource center in Larose Saturday

The Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) and State Sen. Mike Fesi (R-Houma) are hosting a second resource center to help residents after Hurricane Ida.

The event will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Larose Civic Center, 307 E. 5th St., Larose.

Trained specialists from LDI's Office of Consumer Advocacy will help constituents understand their insurance policies, assist them with filing complaints through LDI and answer general insurance questions.

The Louisiana Department of Insurance asks that all participating constituents bring copies of their insurance policies with them to the meetings. Masks are required at all LDI resource centers.

"We are here for the people of Louisiana," Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon said. "Bring your policies and bring your questions. We're ready to help."

Portier named new GM

of energy systems at Danos

Danos has named Shawn Portier as its new general manager of energy systems.

Portier is a 17-year industry veteran and joined Danos in 2008. He lives in Bourg with his wife and their three daughters, aged seven, 11, and 13. Portier is a 2002 graduate of South Terrebonne High School and began his career at Terrebonne Vo-Tech, which is a technical training program for high school students.

In his new role, Portier will oversee Danos' automation, instrumentation and electrical, mechanical maintenance, power generation, and valve and well head service lines. He will assume this leadership position while maintaining his current role as instrumentation and electrical (I&E) operations manager, Danos said in a news release.

"Shawn has shown himself to be a key asset with our I&E services group, bringing a proven track record of customer satisfaction," said CEO Paul Danos. "We're confident he will lead our energy systems teams in continuing to deliver the quality service that our customers have come to expect."

Danos was founded in 1947 and is a family-owned and managed energy service provider, according to its website.
