CISD trustees OK raises

Corsicana Daily Sun (TX)

June 24--Employees in the Corsicana Independent School District got some good news from school board trustees Monday with the board's approval of pay raises and more money toward health insurance costs.

Trustees voted to approve an across-the-board pay increase of 3 percent in the upcoming district budget.

"We are pleased to be in a position to provide this increase in salary for our staff, said Dr. Diane Frost, CISD superintendent. "We appreciate the board's support as well as the businesses office's work in managing our financial resources to make this opportunity a viable option."

The board also voted to increase the district's monthly contribution toward employee health insurance by $15, for a total of $250 per month. The additional contribution was approved due to an increase in the cost of coverage by Aetna, the district's health insurance provider. Rates for the new policy year have increased by $16 per employee, said Susan Johnson, executive director of communications for the district.

In other action Monday, trustees approved a proposal for work on secure entry vestibules on the Bowie and Navarro campuses. At the request of the district's contractor, Joeris, trustees approved a guaranteed maximum price of $74,500 for the work at those two campuses.

The secure entry vestibules are a part of the 2014 CISD bond that voters approved in November as part of a security overhaul of all district campuses. The new entry vestibules are designed to help prevent unauthorized persons from gaining access to classroom buildings.

Trustees held a closed, executive session as well Monday for the stated purpose of conducting an evaluation of Frost. Following the closed session that lasted a little less than an hour, no action was taken by trustees.
