June 21--Love named to AHCA board

Doyle Love, executive director at Life Care Center of Hixson, has been appointed to the board of directors of the American College of Health Care Administrators.

In this role, Love represents District 6 for the organization, which provides training and advocacy for long-term care administrators. The district covers Tennessee, Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Texas and Wisconsin.

ACHCA provides continuing education and speakers for conferences to present on topics crucial to long-term care.

Love has been a licensed nursing home administrator for more than 14 years.

Johnston firm reorganizing

Johnston Southern Co., the private office of the Summerfield K. Johnston, Jr. family, is reorganizing its executive management team, effective July 1.

Andy Cope, a former banker for American National and SunTrust banks who has served president of Johnston Southern for the past 21 years, is reducing his role with Johnston Southern and will also serve as president of The Tucker Foundation, the Johnston family's private foundation.

Cope will become a vice president for Johnston Southern and will succeed Hayne Hamilton, who is retiring after serving as the foundation's president since its founding in 1994. Hamilton also was previously a banker, serving as executive vice president of First American National Corp. in Nashville for 12 years before returning to Chattanooga to head the Johnston Southern Co. Hamilton also served as executive assistant to Summerfied Johnston, Jr. at Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) in Atlanta.

Hamilton will be retained as a consultant and remain on the foundation's board of trustees.

David Smith is the new president of Johnston Southern Co. Smith, previously a partner with a regional accounting firm in Chattanooga, has served as an investment banking consultant and advisor to Johnston Southern.

Smith is a certified public accountant, a personal financial specialist and a certified valuation analyst. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and Georgia State University, Smith is a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga, the board of the Cherokee Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the advisory committee for business and information systems at Chattanooga State Technical Community College.

Edward Jones adds Hixson site

Matthew Crawford is opening his own office in Hixson of Edward Jones, a Fortune 500 Company that provides financial services for individual investors.

"We're very proud to have Matthew on board as we become part of the Hixson community," said Jim Weddle, managing partner of Edward Jones. "He brings commitment and enthusiasm that is certain to benefit his clients."

Crawford's office is at 4706 Hixson Pike, Suite 100.
