BRIEF: Vehicle strikes State Farm insurance building in Freeport

March 02--FREEPORT -- A vehicle crashed into a State Farm insurance building Thursday near the corner of West South Street and South Walnut Avenue.
The crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m.Freeport police say the small SUV was headed east on South Street when it swerved to avoid a car in front of it. While swerving, the vehicle hit the median, launching it into the air.
The SUV struck another vehicle, which was in the northbound lane on Walnut preparing to turn east onto South Street, before crashing into the building on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The vehicle smashed through the wall and came to a rest inside the building.
There were no passengers in the SUV. Injuries are minimal, said Freeport police Sgt. Kurt Schnoor.
