BRIEF: Study ranks Frederick fifth in state for cheapest renters insurance

Dec. 18--A personal finance website named Frederick as one of the cheapest places in Maryland for renters insurance in its most recent study.
ValuePenguin ranked Frederick fifth for cheapest renters insurance statewide at the average annual rate of $249, roughly 9 percent less than the average state cost, according to the study.
Takoma Park topped the list of places in Maryland with the cheapest renters insurance, followed by Gaithersburg, Rockville and Westminster, the website states.
ValuePenguin compared renters insurance quotes for a residence with 1,000 square feet that covered at least $25,000 in personal property and $100,000 in liabilities.
