BRIEF: Medical examiner releases Annaville fire victims' causes of death
Caller-Times (Corpus Christi, TX)
Oct. 22--Two children who died in a house fire near Annaville Wednesday have been identified as Mackenzie Britton, 15 and Kenneth Britton, 10, officials said.
Nueces County medical examiner Ric Ortiz said Mackenzie died of smoke inhalation and Kenneth died of extensive burns.
Corpus Christi firefighters responded to the blaze about 4:30 a.m. in the 200 block of East Wildwood Drive. The fire began in the kitchen on the right side of the house and spread quickly to the main building, Fire Capt. M.D. Lewis said.
Another child was taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital with injuries, Lewis said, and as of Thursday Capt. James Brown did not have information about the condition of the child.
Brown said it took fire crews about an hour to put out the blaze, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Six people were in the house at the time.
A donation account has been set up at Navy Army Federal Credit Union called "Benefit of Lee and Stacy Britton" as well as a GoFundMe account: www.gofundme.com/cs6urjqs The family does not have insurance.
