Aug. 22--When responding to a situation that requires authorities to give medical attention, deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office are now better prepared since first aid kits were recently donated to them by a local business.
"We have the ability to do sponsorships or give donations to entities such as law enforcement, schools and fire departments," said Jennifer Yerton, Farmers Insurance agent. "Farmers Insurance offers discounts to full time officers, as well as firefighters. This is a way to get the word out and to give back to our community."
Yerton plans to donate three first aid medical bags and emergency tourniquets each month until all full time deputies are equipped.
CCSO officials said the value of the medical equipment is about $100.
"We appreciate Ms. Yerton's donation," said Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault. "We would not be able to do our jobs as effectively without help from community partners like Ms. Yerton. We really appreciate Ms. Yerton and her generous donation and look forward to working with her in the future."
