BRIEF: BlueCross BlueShield launches podcast on health care issues
Buffalo News (NY)
Jan. 03--BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York has launched an audio podcast of interviews on health care topics and issues in the health insurance industry.
The company will release new Point of Health podcasts about every two weeks. The first edition, "Six Easy Steps for Better Health in 2017," features Dr. Thomas Schenk, the insurer's senior vice president and chief medical officer.
Julie R. Snyder, the company's vice president of corporate relations, hosts the podcasts, which are available for free at bcbswny.com/pointofhealth. They eventually will be offered through iTunes. The first batch of podcasts has company officials as guests, but future episodes will include outside experts, the insurer said.
BlueCross BlueShield said podcasts offer another way to get information to the public. In essence, an audio podcast is radio on demand. It's a radio broadcast, in the form of an episodic series, that listeners download as a digital file or stream over an internet connection whenever they want to hear it.
