July 16--WASHINGTON -- Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) released the following statement on House passage of the American Health Care Act to repeal and replace Obamacare.
"I made a promise to Texans that I would work tirelessly to repeal and replace Obamacare. Today, marked a substantial step forward when the House passed of the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The AHCA will expand choices, lower premiums and deductibles, and help reduce the national deficit," Barton stated. "Obamacare has failed to provide better coverage at lower costs through government mandates. Americans are capable and, when given the necessary facts and options, they will find the best fit for themselves and their families. There is still work to be done and I will work with my colleagues in the Senate to get this bill to the President's desk."
Rep. Barton serves as Vice-Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, one of three committees of jurisdiction for this legislation.
