St. Louis Post-Dispatch (MO)
Feb. 20--ST. LOUIS -- Authorities helped free two juveniles who were trapped in a car after it hit a fire truck Tuesday morning.
Police say the youths suffered minor injuries. After the juveniles were freed and the 16-year-old driver's mother arrived, he was issued tickets for driving without a license, not having insurance and failure to yield.
Police said the car was a rental, but it was unclear why the teen was driving it. It had not been reported stolen.
The car crashed into the fire truck at the intersection of Sheridan and Glasgow avenues before 8 a.m.
The front of the pumper truck was smashed, and the car came to rest in a grassy area. The 16-year-old driver and passenger in the car were trapped for a short time.
The fire truck wasn't responding to a call and did not have its lights and sirens on, said Police Officer Michelle Woodling.
