Appoints Shahryar Shaghaghi as National Practice Leader

Mr. Shaghaghi has more than 25 years of experience providing information technology (IT), operations and risk management services to global organizations. He focuses on strategy and transformation services that enable innovation and address risk management, regulatory and compliance requirements. A trusted advisor to Chief Information Officers, Chief Operating Officers and Chief Information Security Officers, he implements IT strategy, risk and compliance optimization programs through the integration of process, technology, organization, and relationship building to increase profitability and manage cost and risk.

Mr. Shaghaghi has developed and implemented large scale transformation programs, including in the areas of cybersecurity, IT due diligence, IT financial management, application development, IT infrastructure services, business continuity and sourcing strategy. He has also implemented compliance programs related to enforcement actions, including in the areas of anti-money laundering (AML) / Know Your Customer (KYC), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Dodd-Frank requirements for global financial services firms.

Prior to joining BDO, Mr. Shaghaghi was a Partner at Kurt Salmon, where he expanded their CIO Advisory Services and successfully led and delivered numerous strategic projects for major financial services companies. He also served as Director of Transformation with Citigroup, leading key strategic and reengineering initiatives to manage cost and drive efficiency for its Global Operations and Technology and Citi Transaction Services groups. Coordinating with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Federal Reserve Board, he led global functions for Citi’s Information Security (IS), IT Policy, IS Policy, Global Records Management, and IT Risk Analysis groups. He was also a Partner with Deloitte Consulting, leading several IT Advisory practices, in addition to delivering significant capabilities for global clients. Mr. Shaghaghi earned his Master of Science in Software Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, magna cum laude, at Bethune-Cookman University.
