Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas officials said Baylor Scott & White Health officials have notified them that they are terminating their physician and hospital agreements on July 1, unless those agreements are modified.
If Blue Cross Blue Shield doesn't sign new contracts, BSW doctors, hospitals and other facilities won't be in the company members' network. BCBS officials said alternative network providers include: ParPlan, Blue Choice PPOSM, Blue EssentialsSM, Blue PremierSM, Blue Advantage HMOSM, BlueHPN®, Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO)SM, Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (HMO)SM, and Medicaid.
"We have a long and positive relationship with BSW, but you are our priority," BCBS officials wrote on their website. "We want to reach an agreement that will continue to give you access to BSW doctors and hospitals at fair prices."
Baylor Scott & White officials said in a statement they are currently negotiating a new contract to cover care for patients with BCBS health insurance. BSW officials said nothing has changed right now with its agreement with BCBS, though. BSW officials noted on an FAQ page this negotiation impacts all BSW locations, including hospitals, urgent care, imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers and free-standing clinics.
"Currently, patients with BCBSTX plans have in-network coverage with our providers and facilities, and we are working to reach a new agreement before July 1, 2024, to keep BCBSTX plan holders in-network," BSW officials said.
"Our patients are our top priority, and we are working to minimize any potential disruptions."
