Bagley to address House committee concerning education JUly 7 at Marianna

July 03--Helena-West Helena and Phillips County will be well represented when the House Committee on Health Insurance and Commerce meets in Marianna on Friday, July 7.

The meeting will take place at the Marianna Civic Center at 593 State Highway 243 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

State Representative Chris Richey of Helena-West Helena will be among the 20-member committee attending the session. Richey represents District 12 of Eastern Arkansas, which includes Phillips County, and portions of Arkansas, Lincoln and Desha counties. Andrew Bagley, president of the Helena-West Helena School Board is also on the agenda to address education.

In addition to education,topics on the tentative agenda for the session include jobs and healthcare. Heading the discussion on jobs will be Daryl Bassett, director of the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services and Drew Williams, director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.

In the area of healthcare, presenters will include Kelley Linc, chief legislative and intergovernmental affairs officer for the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Marquitta Little, health policy director for Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, Craig Cloud, director of the Division of Aging and Adult Services of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Joey Astin, director of the St. Francis Area Developmental Center and Bess Ginty, chief executive officer of Kids for the Future.

Besides Bagley, Doris Wallace of the Lee County School board is on the agenda to discuss education.
