Annual contracts and more approved by the county

MIAMI – County commissioners here approved several annual contracts and renewals at their regular meeting Monday morning.

Approved matters include a utility relocation agreement between AT&T and the commissioners for an ongoing project, and option #1 on a resolution from ACCO-SIG for renewal quotes for proper-ty and liability insurance for the county.

It was noted by Chairman and District #3 Commissioner Russell Earls and District #1 Commissioner Mike Furnas that the prices through ACCO are far less than any other quotes they could have gotten.

Earls said, “If we were to lose this we couldn’t even get insurance, so it’s extremely important that we keep it. And everyone needs to do everything they can to stay safe.”

Also approved was the 2022-2023 contractual renewal between Turn Key Health Clinic and the board on behalf of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).

Earls noted that it is also important to keep the premiums low for the sheriff’s office.

Another agenda item approved included the requisitioning and receiving officers for the OCSO, sheriff service fee, board of prisoners, bond fee, commissary, and drug buy for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. The requisitioning officers are Rocky Ferdig, Tamara Patterson, and David Dean. The receiving officers are Bridget Kirby and Angel Sharbutt;

In addition, the board approved the transcript of proceeding on the sale of county property acquired at resale to Shelly Spahn in the amount of $200 for the Gregory Cabin sites, and the county deed for the same.

And the final approval was for juvenile detention services between Western Plains Youth & Family Services, Inc. and the county.

Ed Trumbull, the Mayor of the City of Grove, was on hand during the citizen’s participation portion of the meeting to thank the commissioners for their help on a recent project.

Earls said, “A lot of that was made possible with help from our legal counsel.”
