alfabet Maintains Strong Growth in Business IT Management Segment

Bookings up 30% in 2010 vs. 2009

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- alfabet, the leading software provider for strategic IT planning and Business IT Management solutions, announced today it has recorded revenue growth of 17% compared to 2009. The 2010 bookings were up 30% and the fourth quarter was the best posted financial quarter in the history of the company. Q4 revenue was up 44% compared to Q4 2009 and Q4 bookings increased 61% in comparison to the same quarter a year ago.

"In today's economic climate, it is an imperative that organizations need to invest in Business IT Management solutions to excel business transformation , better align the IT landscape with business processes and, mitigate risks. We anticipate that the need for our solutions will continue to increase in 2011. To support the next level of our growth, we will continue to invest in our global workforce, marketing and strategic partnerships."

This growth was fueled by more client adoption and new client acquisitions worldwide including Europe, America and Asia. The worldwide adoption of alfabet's planningIT demonstrates the maturation of the market and increased demand for IT Planning and Business IT Management solutions.

alfabet completed 203 transactions, a 40% increase over 2009, with both new and existing customers. Customers now include the top three European automotive companies and a significant number of the global financial services and insurance companies. Today, the total number of users globally exceeds 40,000.

alfabet's network has also grown over the course of the year. Current partners include Sybase, Detecon, T-Systems, Logica, ITM, Steria Mummert, CTI and others. The company will introduce an official partner program in the first half of 2011 to strengthen its go-to-market capabilities and improve support levels to existing and new partnerships.

Additional 2010 successes include:

  • Two new major releases of planningIT were successfully launched in April and December, adding several new capabilities to its flagship product planningIT.
  • alfabet increased its employee base by 11% across all functions and all regions to continue to meet growing demand in the EMEA, US and APAC markets.
  • A Nucleus Research, Inc. report, Guidebook: Alfabet planningIT, found that alfabet customers are receiving substantial value from its enterprise solution planningIT. The report was based upon in-depth analysis of alfabet customers’ deployments from the financial services, automotive, manufacturing, transportation and logistics industries.
  • The company was positioned in the leader’s quadrant in the Enterprise Architecture Tools Magic Quadrant (Gartner, Inc. Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools” by Chris Wilson and Julie Short, October 28, 2010.
  • alfabet’s sixth annual planningIT eXchange hosted over 350 CIO's and senior IT professionals from around the world to share and exchange best practices and success stories in Business IT Management. Speakers included Generali, Bank of America, Deutsche Telecom, Microsoft, Ministry of Health Holdings Singapore, NiSource, Fireman's Fund and bp.
  • As part of the alfabet Academic Program, alfabet hosted its first international colloquium of EA academic and research institutions to enable academic institutions to share program objectives, market perspectives and identify co-operation opportunities so they can create programs that will prepare students to think innovatively and meet the growing demand for highly-skilled IT managers.
