"What is exciting is that the industry is seeing new sponsors for transactions; folks that may not have used meaningful alternative capital in any format are starting to turn toward that," said Cory Anger, managing director, Guy Carpenter/GC Securities. "What the industry has seen since August 2016 is a renewed favorable pricing environment from the ILS space relative to the traditional markets."
Hemant Shah, co-founder and chief executive officer, Risk Management Solutions, highlighted market forces that have expanded coverages. "I see a lot of innovation and disruptive change, with the industry expanding coverage and becoming more relevant to more people. That fundamental change needs to happen." A.M. Best Managing Director John Andre spoke about the ILS market over the near term.
"In 2017, the industry will continue to be competitive and innovate, as it grows into new space with new products in the United States and elsewhere," said Andre.
