Valuable Traits of Successful Insurance Agents

June 18, 2008
By comparing successful insurance agents to those who struggle, you will be able to quickly identify differences. In other words, successful agents share traits that allow them to make more sales than the competition. If you are working as an agent, it only makes sense that you will want to learn about these traits and then implement them as you see fit.
One of the most valuable traits of all successful insurance agents is the ability to communicate with potential buyers. The way that you talk to leads will determine whether or not you are a success. This is a trait that new insurance agents often times struggle to get a grip on. These agents may not feel comfortable with themselves, or the product that they are selling. Luckily, this almost always changes over time.
Another important trait is determination. As an insurance agent, getting turned down by consumers is a way of life. For every policy you sell, there are going to be quite a few consumers who tell you no. When this happens, you need to make sure that you continue to work hard everyday. It is easy to quit when it seems as if everybody is saying no. Being able to resist this temptation and continue to sell is essential to becoming a successful insurance agent.
It is up to you to determine what it takes to be a successful insurance agent. You can learn a lot by following in the footsteps of others. Soon enough you will know what traits you need, and from there you can do whatever it takes to incorporate them into your day to day business.
