| About the Film: |
The decision to spend the rest of your life with someone sparks an important question: Do you share the same beliefs and values? Oftentimes, this question is answered after knowing the person over a long period of time. Occasionally, no matter how well you know someone, you may still be surprised by his/her ability to do or not do “the right thing.”
The latest film from Liberty Mutual’s Responsibility Project was produced by Independent Media Inc. and directed by renowned director Roger Donaldson. Ryder, a public defense lawyer, prepares to ask his girlfriend, Anne, to marry him. Right before Ryder proposes, his decision to marry Anne is tested, when she receives a call to defend a Major League Baseball player accused of taking steroids. Anne’s willingness to shift blame from the athlete in order to win her case causes Ryder to second guess his proposal, and may cost Anne more than she realizes.
The seven and a half-minute short film, “Lawyers” was directed by Roger Donaldson, most famously known for his work on the 1980’s hit, “Cocktail” and thrillers like “Dante’s Peak” and “The Bank Job.” The film short’s director of photography was Tom Stern, who earned an Academy Award® nomination in cinematography for his work on “Changeling” and who recently served as the director of photography for “Invictus,” which was directed by Clint Eastwood. The short film and its accompanying discussion guide, for those interested in sharing the film and sparking an in-person conversation in the classroom, home or community, can be found at www.ResponsibilityProject.com. |
