Tea Party Assassins

Gantt, Lucius
By Gantt, Lucius

The Gantt Report

An assassin is someone who murders by surprise attack, especially one who carries out a plot to kill a prominent person.

The plot and scheme by conservative Republican members of Congress to shut down the United States government is less about political disagreement and more about trying to kill the legacy of America's first African American President

The GOP can play Chubby Checker all they want to and twist and turn the facts, but they failed to do the one thing that they were required to do-pass a budget for the United States.

Political bigots were not sent to Washington to help insurance companies, they were not elected to assist east bankers, and they were not the recipient or tax payer votes to denigrate the President by changing health care laws that Congress previously voted on and passed.

Tea Party Assassins think their only job is to kill every piece of legislation that President Barack Obama supports!

So, since President Obama and Democratic Congress persons decided to uphold the laws that implement affordable health care, the Republicans in Congress decided if they couldn't kill the policies of the President, they would kill the jobs of nearly 800,000 federal employees.

Congress has not fulfilled its responsibility," President Obama said in a video message sent to the U.S. military around the globe. "It has failed to pass a budget and, as a result, much of our government must now shut down until Congress funds it again."

The U.S. government started shutting down early Tuesday after a bitter fight over "Obamacare" deadlocked the Congress, stymieing every attempt to keep money flowing after the federal fiscal year ended at midnight.

It was the first such collapse of the government in nearly two decades and there was no immediate way to know how long it would last or how it would end.

The partial closure will delay Social Security payments, passport and visa applications, shutter national parks and museums and furlough hundreds of thousands of federal employees. Essential services will still be provided; the military remains on duty.

President Barack Obama declared the government had officially run out of money for many services and operations when the fiscal year expired at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

The Republican Assassins made sure that their pay checks were not cut, their office budgets were not touched, their health plans were not affected and their families were not harmed by their monetary murderous actions.

Congress must pass a budget. If they do not, the blame can only be laid on Tea Party Assassins and conservative Republicans.

The GOP has tried hundreds of times via hundreds of votes to kill or change affordable health care legislation that makes it harder for insurance companies to deny Americans insurance coverage. Legislation that will allow children to stay on their parents' insurance plans and legislation that will set up exchanges where younger, healthier Americans can purchase insurance at affordable costs.

Political life is like personal life- it is akin to a double-edged sword. Sometimes when you try to cut someone, you just might cut yourself!

The Tea Party Assassin's effort to kill President Obama might end up killing The Republican Party by making GOP members fight each other. (Buy Gantt's latest book "Beast Too: Dead Man Writing"online or at any major bookstore. Contact Lucius at www.allworldconsultants.net)
