The Floyd County Times, Prestonburg, Ky.

McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

June 05--PRESTONSBURG -- On Sunday, the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its fourth tournament of the 2014 season on Dewey Lake. Thirty-three (33) anglers competed in the event. Michael Salyer won the tournament with a catch of 4.93 pounds.

Dewey Lake was at summer pool with stained to muddy water on the entire lake and a water temperature of around 75 degrees.

Weather for the tournament was good with partly cloudy skies, a light breeze with an air temperature around 80 degrees.

The fishing for the tournament was fair, many short fish were caught but not many keepers.

The fish were post spawn and had moved to steeper banks, they were caught in 2 to 6 feet of water mostly on the main lake.

The main pattern for this tournament was to fish around wood cover on steeper banks with a crawfish imitation such as a jig or some type of creature bait.

The top finishers were as follows: 1st -- Michael Salyer (1 fish), 4.93 lbs.; 2nd -- Steve Cullop (1 fish), 3.84 lbs.; 3rd -- Johnny Webb (1 fish), 2.64 lbs.; 4th -- Timmy Robinson (1 fish), 2.56 lbs.; 5th -- Keith Pacific (1 fish), 2.32 lbs.; 6th -- Lynn Fields (1 fish), 2.28 lbs.; 7th -- Kevin Runyon (1 fish), 2.15 lbs.; 8th -- Brandon Staten (1 fish), 2.09 lbs.; 9th -- Greg Maynard (1 fish), 1.96 lbs.;

10th- MO (1 fish), 1.81 lbs.
