Roadway Moving Introduces Eco-Friendly Packing Containers

PR Web

New York City (PRWEB) November 05, 2013

In a continuing effort to reduce the carbon footprint of its moving services, Roadway Moving is introducing a convenient, Eco-friendly alternative to costly cardboard packing boxes.

“Our new plastic containers are safer, sturdier and greener than cardboard because they can be reused without incurring recycling costs,” says Roadway CEO Ross Sapir. “We deliver the bins. You – or our experts -- pack them, and when you are done, we pick them up, making them available for another household or commercial move.”

The stackable containers are especially useful for residential inner-city moves because they take up less space and can be piled higher than boxes without losing stability.

The standard container is 27-by-17-by-12 inches. Wardrobes, with a hanging bar, are 24-by-24-by-48 inches. All close with hinged lids or doors that are secured with zip-ties, and can be stacked on dollies for easy moving and loading.

“This is an excellent solution for homeowners who want to make the best use of their packing time and have confidence their possessions will be safe during a move,” Sapir says.

Roadway’s Eco-friendly moving solution will be available only in metro New York City and Long Island initially, because the company provides free delivery and pickup.

In addition to the containers, Roadway provides dollies, zip-ties and labels proportionate to the number of containers.

Moving solutions range from 20 containers — appropriate for a studio — to 75 for a four-bedroom house. Corporate moves are customized, based on the number of employees and mission-critical materials.

Consumers rent the containers for two weeks, with costs starting as low as $100 for a studio. A four-bedroom house will cost about $270.

“That’s far less than the $3 to $5 you will pay for your average cardboard box,” Sapir says. “So you save money on your move and you’re not clogging landfills.”
