Top 20 CPA Firm Hires Naber, Schablik; Expands Banking Industry Capabilities

BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Reznick Group, a top 20 national CPA firm, today announced that it has hired James D. Naber as Office Managing Principal and Peter Schablik as Principal and the Financial Services Advisory leader for its growing Boston office. These veteran accounting professionals bring significant banking industry experience to Reznick Group, expanding the firm’s financial services capabilities in the New England area and nationwide.

About Naber

James Naber has more than 30 years of executive management experience and a proven track record in strategic business operations, staff development and client service. His extensive knowledge of the financial services industry includes banking, investment management, hedge funds, insurance and capital markets. He has worked with some of the most respected financial institutions in the country, providing services that include internal audit, IT audit, risk management, financial institution regulatory compliance and audit, tax and business process consulting.

Naber joins Reznick Group from Wilmington Trust Corporation where he was the Chief Audit Executive. In this role, he had responsibility for oversight of the company’s internal controls, managing the internal audit, fraud and SOX compliance departments. Prior to this, he was with professional services firm Accume Partners as a banking practice leader and the Managing Director of the firm’s New England region. In this role, he opened the Boston office and built a practice serving the audit, compliance and business-processing needs of regional and community banks. Naber also served as Partner in Charge - Financial Services for RSM McGladrey, Inc. where he managed the financial services audit, tax and consulting businesses in the New York Metro region. Prior to RSM McGladrey, Inc. he held the positions of State and Local Tax - Northeast Partner in Charge as well as State and Local Tax Partner in Charge - Financial Services for KPMG LLP in New York and Boston.

Naber received a B.S. in accounting from Providence College and a Master of Science degree in tax law from Bryant College.

About Schablik

Peter Schablik has 23 years of public accounting industry experience with specific knowledge of project management, risk consulting, information technology and internal audit outsource and co-source initiatives for regional and community banks. Immediately prior to joining Reznick Group, he led integrated process, compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley and IT internal audits for regional banking clients, providing strategic advisory services designed to improve processes, counter deficiencies, and stabilize operations.

Schablik was a partner at Grant Thornton LLP in Seattle where he established and led the firm’s Pacific Northwest business advisory services practice, focusing on internal audit outsourcing/co-sourcing, SAS 70 standards, M&A due diligence reviews, and project management services. Prior to Grant Thornton, Schablik established the Technology Risk Consulting (TRC) practice at Arthur Andersen LLP in Boston. In conjunction, he developed a community banking practice that provided TRC services to more than 40 financial institutions. Schablik also worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and TIAA-CREF.

Schablik earned an MBA in finance and MIS, and a BBA in accounting, from the University of Massachusetts.
