Red Ventures adding jobs at its Charlotte location

April 28--The owner of the HomeInsurance.com business in Wilmington plans to expand its Charlotte operations, creating 580 jobs over the next five years, helped by state incentives.

Red Ventures, based just south of Charlotte, near Fort Mill, S.C., said Monday it plans to invest more than $2 million at its North Charlotte location. It says the facility will employ 700 by 2018.

The marketing and sales company has more than 1,900 employees and says it has grown more than 30 percent every year for the past five years. It also has facilities in Miami and San Antonio, Texas.

Though Red Ventures owns the insurance call-in sales center in Wilmington, it primarily does online marketing and sales for such brands as Direct TV and ADT Security.

Red Ventures announced last summer that it was adding 20 employees at the Wilmington office, 4829 Carolina Beach Road.

That brought the total number of people employed at the Wilmington facility to 80 from 60, a company spokeswoman said at the time. Then in March the company said it was adding another 25 employees here.

A Red Ventures spokeswoman could not be immediately reached for comment Monday.

Red Ventures' expansion plans were announced Monday by Gov. Pat McCrory and Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker.

The North Charlotte expansion was made possible in part by an award to Red Ventures from the state Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program.
