Public Regulation Commission to meet in Ruidoso [Ruidoso News, N.M.]

Aug. 15--New Mexico'sPublic Regulation Commission will conduct their regular Thursday meeting at an irregular location -- Ruidoso.

Typically commissioners meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Santa Fe.

While the main meeting agenda item will involve issues with a water utility in the Otero County community of Timberon, issues related to insurance matters in the wake of the Little Bear Fire will be discussed. The PRC's Superintendent of Insurance, John Franchini will be at the meeting to answer questions and take comments about disaster related insurance matters.

"We will likely have other members of the insurance division there as well," said Arthur Bishop, with the PRC. "They'll be able to answer questions concerning issues related to homeowners insurance or possibly flood insurance. Anything related to the Little Bear Fire and the other natural disasters that have occurred in the recent past. And they can take a look at policies and sort of give people an idea of how to file claims and things of that nature."

Bishop said as of late last week there had been no insurance issues related to the Little Bear Fire presented to the division.

But those who may have a problem can bring those up on Thursday. The meeting, in the council chambers at Ruidoso Village Hall, will begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 16. The doors are expected to open at 8:30 a.m. for individual discussions with commissioners or insurance division officials.

One of the five members of the PRC, Ben Hall, is

from Ruidoso.

"There are a number of issues on the table concerning Ruidoso including disaster insurance and local utilities," Hall said. "I encourage anyone with concerns in any area regulated by the PRC to attend."

The others are Theresa Becenti-Aguilar, Douglas Howe, Jason Marks and Patrick Lyons. The PRC had met in August 2011 in Ruidoso, at the Cree Meadows Country Club.
