Patricia Zyma Named President/CEO of Utilities Employees Credit Union

PR Web

Wyomissing, Pa (PRWEB) October 15, 2014

Utilities Employees Credit Union (UECU), Wyomissing, Pa., has named Patricia A. Zyma as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Zyma, who has previously served the billion dollar credit union as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, assumed the role of President/CEO on October 1st. She was selected by the UECU Board of Directors to succeed Glen A. Yeager, who recently retired from the CEO position.

"We knew Pat was the superlative person to lead UECU and provide the organization with a smooth transition – she has the qualifications, the demeanor of a CEO, and real insight into the cultural success of the Credit Union," says UECU Board President Steven A. Schumacher. "It was a very clear choice and we couldn't be happier that she has accepted this new role."

Zyma joined UECU in 1997 and has served in an executive leadership role throughout her career there, first as a Vice President, then as CFO and, more recently, Executive Vice President. Zyma brings 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to her new position, having previously served credit union clientele while working at CPA firm Reinsel & Company (now Reinsel Kuntz Lesher, LLP). During her tenure at UECU, Zyma has participated in setting and implementing strategic direction, and provided oversight for various finance and operational areas of the credit union, which serves a nationwide membership of utility industry employees and their families. UECU holds $1.1 billion in assets and has been recognized for its fiscal soundness and strong financial performance with an Excellent Weiss Rating, Bauer Financial Five Star Rating and IDC Financial Publishing Superior Rating.

"It is an honor to be selected to lead Utilities Employees Credit Union," says Zyma. "UECU exemplifies the member-focused co-operative philosophy, and has a long history of enriching the financial lives of utility industry workers and their families. I look forward to working closely with UECU's Board of Directors and our talented staff, as we build upon our past success in offering products, services and technologies that provide solutions for the changing financial needs of our member-owners."

Zyma is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the Credit Union Executive Society's CEO Institute. She holds a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the AICPA and PICPA accounting associations and various other professional organizations. Zyma has volunteered with the United Way of Berks County for many years, and has served on other local nonprofit Boards.

About Utilities Employees Credit Union:
UECU was formed in 1934 to fulfill the financial needs of America's utility workers and their families. Now a billion dollar financial institution, UECU serves its 44,000 nationwide member clientele as a virtual-service, branchless credit union, from a single headquarters in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Without shareholders or branches to maintain, UECU returns profits to its member-owners, through financial rewards and exceptional rates on loan, credit card, savings and checking products. Members have access to a wide array of mobile and online banking services and exclusive benefits including financial education, wealth management, insurance services and scholarships. UECU is among the six percent of U.S. credit unions to receive an "Excellent" Weiss Rating for financial soundness and one of the few financial institutions to reward members with a year-end bonus dividend, which has distributed $3 million in member bonuses since 2011.
