Orlando Fringe receives $10,000 from Barry Miller foundation

Nov. 26--During the 22nd annual Orlando Fringe Festival lat May, attorney Barry L. Miller challenged the Fringe to raise $10,000 in donations -- promising his foundation would match the amount.

After a few months, the Fringe met that challenge, and Miller kept his word.

The new Barry L. Miller Foundation for Arts and Education recently awarded its first grant -- a $10,000 donation to the Orlando Fringe Festival.

"I am pleased that the Orlando Fringe Festival is the first recipient of a grant from the foundation," Miller said. "It is important to have arts and diversity within a great community and the Orlando Fringe has been providing this for 23 years to Central Florida."

George Wallace, the Fringe's general manager, said the grant will help ensure the festival's future.

"The grant allowed us to create a first-ever endowment for Orlando Fringe, an important step in our ongoing financial stability and presence as a leading arts organization in Central Florida," Wallace said. "Barry has always been an important member of the Orlando Fringe family, and we are proud of our partnership with him and The Barry L. Miller Foundation for Arts and Education."

Miller leads The Closing Agent, one of the oldest independent title agencies, and maintains offices in Orlando, Ocoee and Altamonte Springs.
