NAATP to Examine New Oxymoron: Addiction Treatment ‘Safe Havens’ No Longer Safe
PHILADELPHIA, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --The National Association of Addition Treatment Providers (NAATP) will address a recent phenomenon at its Annual Leadership Conference on May 14-17 in Chandler, Arizona.
"The Healthcare Reform Bill, the economy, and social media have triggered a huge enrollment spike at private addiction treatment centers across the country, which means we're going to see more lawsuits and increased damages. These associations need to be aware of the risks so they can seek the proper protection," Sean F. Conaboy of NSM Insurance Group explains.
As stepping stones from recovery to re-assimilation, private addiction treatment centers provide a safe haven for recovering addicts from the temptations of daily life, yet as more and more addicts are able to afford treatment with new healthcare coverage, the enrollment at these private facilities has increased dramatically, putting them at risk for law suits and extended damage.
Mr. Conaboy will address these challenges in a presentation during the NAATP's Annual Leadership Conference where he hopes to foster discussions between non-profit professionals, and lead them toward more effective agent-broker selection and risk protection.
Sean F. Conaboy is a 20-year veteran in the addiction treatment field and expert in behavioral healthcare property and casualty risk management at NSM Insurance Group in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
