Milliman Care Guidelines Offers Online Interrater Reliability Tool and Training

SEATTLE, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Milliman Care Guidelines LLC, A Milliman Company, now provides online training and testing tools that help health plans, hospitals and other clients optimize the benefits of Milliman Care Guidelines® evidence-based products and software.

The Care Guidelines promote quality care by giving healthcare professionals access to best practices based on annually updated evidence, thus enabling informed and consistent clinical decisions.  The seven-product Care Guidelines series covers the continuum of physical and behavioral care from outpatient treatments through hospitalization, recovery and rehabilitation.  The guidelines and supporting evidence are presented through a range of software options -- interactive and non-interactive, web-based and installed -- for easy access by clinicians and reviewers.

While Care Guidelines products and software are easy to use, proper training and testing ensure accurate and efficient application of clinical content.  On Demand Training and an Interrater Reliability Tool, both housed within a web-based Learning Management System, support training and testing.  These resources supplement other training options led by Milliman's clinical trainers.

Learning Management System

Milliman Care Guidelines uses a web-based Learning Management System platform to give clients easy, password-protected access to the Interrater Reliability Tool and its test case studies, and to deliver On Demand Training modules.  With the Learning Management System, Milliman Care Guidelines clients have access to high-quality training and recordkeeping tools that let users control their own training pace and scope, and give users and managers real-time feedback on learning success.  Access to the Learning Management System and On Demand Training is included with Care Guidelines licenses.

Interrater Reliability Tool

The Interrater Reliability Tool tests clients' use of key Care Guidelines products with realistic clinical case histories and multiple-choice quizzes.  Clients receive multiple test cases each year -- new cases are distributed quarterly -- covering Ambulatory Care, Inpatient and Surgical Care, and General Recovery Guidelines content, plus acute inpatient sections of the Behavioral Health Guidelines product, for everyone from utilization review nurses to medical directors.

The web-based Interrater Reliability Tool supports URAC and NCQA requirements to document appropriate and consistent use of nationally recognized guidelines.

Clients can request customized features such as: passing scores, the number of test attempts allowed, and assigning case studies to user groups or specific users.  The tool's automated grading and recordkeeping track improvement, and give users immediate feedback.  Administrators can use test results to develop staff training to improve healthcare consistency.

On Demand Training

Web-based On Demand Training offers self-paced, interactive modules covering key Care Guidelines topics.  The On Demand Training program gives Milliman clients easy access to in-depth Care Guidelines training in a flexible, time-efficient format.  The self-contained 15- to 20-minute modules can be used anytime, anywhere in individual clinicians' self-study, in a group or classroom setting, or by in-house trainers as part of an overall strategy
