To make its selection, Merrill went through an extensive industry search and culled the list to candidates that demonstrated an expertise in solving financial document assembly issues. They then asked each candidate to respond to a complicated set of use cases to measure performance. SDL XPP stood out because it provides the ability to automatically format the complex tables used in financial reporting. In addition, its Web Services API fits well into the Service Oriented Architecture that Merrill has implemented.
