MassMutual Appoints David Acselrod As Vice President, Underwriting Operations

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) today announced that David Acselrod has been named Vice President, Underwriting Operations.

In his new role, Mr. Acselrod is responsible for the development of MassMutual's overall underwriting operations strategy, which includes oversight of the day-to-day operations of the company's Life and Disability Income Underwriting and New Business departments, the implementation of continuous underwriting process improvement practices and ensuring that all risk selection practices are in compliance with regulatory requirements. Based in the company's Springfield, Mass., headquarters, he reports to Roger Putnam, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of MassMutual's U.S. insurance business.

Prior to joining MassMutual, for the past 16 years Mr. Acselrod held a variety of positions with the U.S. and international businesses of MetLife Inc., most recently as Vice President, Small Market Leader, Group Insurance, where he was charged with setting the strategy for this segment. He has also held executive positions with the former Chase Manhattan Bank (now JPMorgan Chase & Co.), management and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton and The Travelers Companies, where he began his career in 1988.

Mr. Acselrod graduated cum laude from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, with a concentration in economics. He subsequently earned his Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.
