Lowell chamber recognizes its supporters [The Times, Munster, Ind.]
Aug. 27--LOWELL -- Certificates of appreciation were presented to businesses and organizations at a recent Lowell Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting held at Mi Ranchito restaurant.
The recipients were recognized for their valuable contributions to the 2010 Lowell Business EXPO, St. Patrick's Day fundraiser to benefit the local academic scholarship fund, Cobe Cup Car Cruise and the Saturday Night Car Fever car shows.
Businesses singled out include Purdue University, Sickinger's Jewelry, Lowell Carpet and Covering, Paper Stuff, Lowell Hicksgas, Tri-Creek Lumber, Midwest Accurate Grinding, Comfort Inn, McVey's Restaurant, Four Seasons Nails, Fitness Edge, Tish's Antiques, DeMotte State Bank, Hopper Roofing & Supply and Carlson Electric.
Also, Bardens Animal Clinic, Lowell Glass & Trim, Lowell Body Shop, Century II Insurance/John Bennett Agent, State Farm Insurance/Aron Schuhrke Agent, Lump Insurance, Allstate Insurance/Jack Keithley Agent, Hardings Inc., Smith Ford, Smith Chevy, Pilcher Publishing Co. and Gigahertz.
Among the organizations recognized were Tri-Creek School Corp., Lowell Mainstreet Association, Three Creeks Historical Association, Lowell Downtown Merchants Association, Boy Scout Troop 356, The Alternative School, Lowell Parks Enrichment Foundation, Lowell Middle School girls choir and St. Edward School children's choir.
Town of Lowell departments getting a nod include the Lowell Police Department, Lowell Volunteer Fire Department and town employees Chris Marbach and Linda Steinberg.
Regionally, honorees included Gary South Shore RailCats, Radio One Communications and The Times Media Co.
Chamber Vice President Lynn Scheeringa gave a brief outline of the 2010 Labor Day Festival, while Veronica Carter of Z107 invited members to participate in a live radio broadcast from the fest, and Cathy Shelbourne of Square 1 explained the 2010 banner program.
