Late-game scoring sends Sioux City to regionals

July 26--CENTERVILLE -- Grandview and Sioux City Headid battled back-and-forth through periodic rain showers Saturday in the state title game.

In the end, it was Sioux City who emerged victorious after coming back from a 4-0 deficit.

Sioux City's Cael Boever was named the most valuable player, after he hit two home runs to drive in a combined nine RBIs. On the mound, he threw the first four innings.

Sioux City recorded a five-run third inning to take a 6-4 lead. Grandview answered right back with two runs to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the fourth inning.

Sioux City took the lead for what would be the lead change of the game in bottom of the fourth, with a run. They added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-6 lead.

Grandview had runners at second and third with the tying run at the plate with two outs in the top of the sixth. But a groundout to the pitcher allowed Sioux City to tag Grandview'sNate Steenblock out at the plate to claim the win.

Sioux City Headid will represent the state of Iowa at the regional tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana from July 31-Aug. 9. The winner out of the regional tournament advances to the Little League World Series held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
