KeyBank Receives ‘Healthy Lifestyles’ Gold Award from National Business Group on Health

PR Newswire Association LLC

CLEVELAND, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Business Group on Health has recognized KeyBank with a Gold Award for being one of the "2012 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles."

The Business Group honored KeyBank for its innovative, systemic approach to wellness, which has helped employees become more involved in their well-being to improve their health and drive down medical costs. The company's wellness commitments include: having only one medical administrator since 2001; simple health plan designs (two high-deductible health plan (HDHP) options and one preferred provider organization (PPO) program); integrated absence management; a health insurance premium credit for wellness; and programs for healthier eating options, increased physical activities and on-site immunizations. Other Gold Award winners included American Express, General Mills, The Home Depot, Hewlett-Packard and Verizon.

In addition, in 2011, KeyBank Foundation awarded a four-year, $1 million grant to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to develop a Community Health Advisors (CHA) Training Program. CHAs will provide breast health education and screenings to 110,000 medically underserved women in 17 cities across the nation where KeyBank has a presence.

"We are very proud to receive the 'healthy lifestyles' award and share it with all of our employees, who are taking control of their health and living healthier lives," said Johnni Beckel, EVP and chief human resources officer of KeyCorp. "This award reinforces Key's commitment to our employees and their overall well-being. We are also pleased to join with the National Business Group on Health and other award members in helping to promote healthy lifestyles in workplaces and communities across the country."

Now in its eighth year, the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards annually acknowledge those employers that have responded to the urgent need to improve their employees' health, productivity and quality of life. The underlying goal of the program is to encourage all employers to take action. A total of 66 U.S. employers were honored this year for their forward-thinking leadership and innovation in providing workplace well-being programs for their employees and families.
