Janney Capital Markets Bolsters Research and Banking Capabilities [Health & Beauty Close – Up]

Proquest LLC

Janney Capital Markets announced that it has deepened its Equity Research and Investment Banking capabilities with the addition of a health care vertical and hiring of five talented and experienced professionals from ThinkEquity.

According to a release, the additions--including senior research analysts, Spencer Nam, Jim Molloy and Kimberly Lee, D.O., as well as senior investment bankers, Josh Muntner and Richard Page--have compiled an impressive track record of success and are known in the industry for their ability to build a quality business.

"By opportunistically adding such a strong group of analysts and bankers, Janney will have an immediate presence in this important sector of the market," said Jordie Maine, Head of Janney Capital Markets. "While recognizing that our industry continues to operate under challenging conditions, Janney is committed to capitalizing on strategic opportunities for growth, and the health care sector is one where we believe we can compete and win."

Nam will lead the medical device and diagnostics research effort and will be based in Boston. Prior to ThinkEquity, he served as a senior research analyst at Madison Williams as well as Director of Research at Summer Street Research Partners. Nam received a B.A. from Harvard University and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

The specialty pharmaceutical space will be covered by Molloy, also based in Boston. Prior to ThinkEquity, Molloy held senior research positions at Caris & Company and Oppenheimer & Company.

Lee will cover the biotechnology sector and will be based in San Francisco. Prior to ThinkEquity, she was a senior biotech analyst at Global Hunter Securities where she was a founding member of the healthcare practice. Lee also has covered the biotechnology sector at both Pacific Growth Equities and Jefferies, and has worked as a physician in obstetrics and gynecology, and in orthopedic surgery research.

The New York-based investment banking team will be led by Muntner and Page. Collectively, the pair has over 30 years of life sciences investment banking experience. Prior to ThinkEquity</org>, Muntner held senior positions at Oppenheimer & Co. and its predecessor firm, CIBC World Markets, as well as with Prudential Vector. He received a B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University and his M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA. Page, prior to ThinkEquity, worked as a senior advisor at JSB-Partners, focusing on pharmaceutical product partnering.

Maine continued, "This is a group of highly regarded individuals. We are excited to have them join our team and look forward to them continuing their successes at Janney."

Janney Montgomery Scott provides financial advice and service to individual, corporate and institutional investors. Janney is an independently operated subsidiary of The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company.
