Independence Blue Cross Selects Array Spectrum™ Private Health Insurance Exchange Technology

Array Health, an independent provider of private insurance exchange technology, today announced that Independence Blue Cross (Independence), the leading health insurance organization in southeastern Pennsylvania, has selected the Array Spectrum™ Private Exchange solution for its online private health insurance exchange marketplace for employers with more than 100 employees. Using the software technology provided by Array Spectrum™, Independence will offer employer groups a comprehensive selection of products for their employees through a guided online shopping site.

Through the exchange -- which supports employee shopping and enrollment -- Independence will offer medical, dental, and vision plans for employers starting October 1, 2014, with coverage effective January 1, 2015. Employer groups with more than 100 employees, as well as brokers who work closely with employers in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region, will be invited by Independence to participate in the new exchange.

Independence will use Array Spectrum™ to support end-to-end consumer engagement for the marketing, selling, enrollment, management, renewal, and administration of health benefits. The insurer will also feature the Array Spectrum™ Member Marketplace, which uses the patent-pending SmartFit™ decision support technology designed to increase customers' confidence in their plan selection. The solution will integrate with Independence's Provider Finder system to help users select a plan based on in-network doctors, physicians, hospitals, and other health care professionals.
