Home Health Software Provider Kinnser Software Contributes $150,000 to Austin Children’s Shelter

Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

Kinnser Software, Inc., a leading home health software firm based in Austin, Texas, announces its charitable donation of $150,000 in unrestricted funds to the Austin Children’s Shelter (ACS) to deliver services to children and young adults in central Texas. President Christopher Hester made the decision to contribute funds to the local organization based on his desire to help children and young adults to thrive at critical points in their lives.

“Innovation is one of our core values. After visiting ACS, we knew that we wanted to support ACS’ innovative programs, which develop capable and independent members of our local community,” said Hester. “ACS provides a safe place to build skills to overcome life’s challenges and lead successful lives. Kinnser’s contribution to ACS is part of our ongoing efforts to support organizations that deliver real solutions to challenging problems.”

Incidence of child abuse and neglect are at alarming levels. Texas saw over 70 thousand confirmed child victims of abuse and neglect in 2008, according to statistics compiled from the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. ACS protects members of the local Austin community by offering a safe haven for children, young adults and families who are in crisis. The organization provides critical services and quality care in a safe and nurturing environment, which promotes healing from the emotional traumas suffered by many of these youth. Now, with expanded programming offering long-term care and transitional living services, ACS can extend its sustaining, positive effect on young lives.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kinnser Software as a corporate sponsor and thank Kinnser for demonstrating its long-term commitment to our organization and the children we serve,” said Kelly White, chief executive officer for ACS. “Support from the community is what makes the difference between simply providing basic needs and delivering services that build a foundation of success for every child.”

Approximately 70 percent of the Shelter’s funding comes from community support, and as the agency grows to serve more children and youth, this support is vital. In 2010, ACS more than tripled the number of shelter care days provided over the previous year and it can potentially double that number in 2011 with increased support.
